My Story
DeShaun James joined the Community Teen Coalition TRIO Program in October of 2021. DeShaun Serves as the Educational Specialist for the Upward Bound Math and Science program at Griffin High School. He has a B.S. in Recreation and Physical Education from Virginia State University. Prior to joining CTC, DeShaun served honorably for 14 years in the United States Army in which he served as a Human Resource Officer. After the Army, DeShaun switched branches and served in the civilian workforce in the NAVY’s Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department and a Youth Counselor and Teen Coordinator for 3 years. After that Mr James took a position as a Director for Child Care Network for 2 years. And during this Tenure Mr James has always found time to be a Coach and Mentor to young athletes. Mr James philosophy is to support the community and to build and coach young minds to become successful leaders.
